One floor in Civitanova Marche
The building has been ours since 1998. Everything except heel injection and tanning happens inside it, which is the reason a problem found at lasting can be answered by the pattern maker the same morning.
Departments
| Department | Equipment and staffing |
|---|---|
| Sampling room | four pattern makers, a clicking press and a bench for hand work; physically separate from production |
| Cutting | Two clicking presses plus a CAD nesting station for leather yield |
| Closing | Post-bed and flat-bed machines, skiving, folding and a strap line |
| Lasting | Two lines: toe, side and seat lasting, heat setting and press |
| Finishing | Edge dressing, sole and heel finishing, sock fitting, spray booth |
| Inspection and packing | Bench inspection of every pair, boxing and export packing |
Capacity
Around 320 pairs a day across the two lasting lines, which in practice means we can take on roughly fourteen developments a season alongside repeat production. When the sampling room is full we say so and give you a date rather than accepting the work and delivering it late.
People
Twenty-six people, most of whom have been here longer than a decade, and four apprentices trained through the regional footwear programme. Closing and lasting are the hardest roles to fill in the province and we train rather than recruit for them.
Storage
Client lasts and patterns are held here for three years after the last order, indexed by client and style code. Beyond that we write and ask before anything is cleared. Materials from a cancelled run are held for one season and then offered back at cost.
Standards and audits
The factory is registered with the Chamber of Commerce of Macerata and works to the Italian and EU requirements for footwear labelling, chemical restrictions and workplace safety. We host client social and quality audits and have never refused one; audit reports are the client's property, not ours to publish.
Visiting
Clients are welcome during the working week. Civitanova Marche is about ninety minutes from Ancona airport and three hours from Bologna by train. A visit that includes watching your own style being lasted needs scheduling against the production plan, so give us a fortnight.
